Growing up in Webster, NY Salvatore’s Pizza was always one of my favorites and a staple in the Rochester area for 46 years!! Well – they are bringing a new location to Downtown Matthews and we could not be more excited! Here is the press release we stumbled upon. Congrats Salvatore’s and welcome to NC!!
Salvatore’s Pizza will open its first NC location in Matthews NC.
“The Salvatore’s Pizza Family will celebrate their 46 year anniversary on Friday July 5, 2024!
Salvatore’s Pizza was started by Salvatore SoccerSam Fantauzzo as a young entrepreneur in his Home Economics class at Eastridge High School in 1978. On July 5, 1978 the first location opened at 1985 E Main St. The inaugural location is still open today as one of the busiest pizzerias in the country and the region now has 30 full service Salvatore’s Pizzeria locations, two Donuts Delite locations, and pizza outlets at the Rochester Airport and Innovative Field.
The Salvatore’s Pizza Family also opened their first out of state location in Jacksonville, Florida this year, with former Rochesterian Dr. Ferdinand Formoso and family. The group anticipates to open many locations in Florida
In celebration of their 46 year anniversary, the Salvatore’s Pizza Family has more exciting news to share.

The Matthews location will open at 215 N Ames St., Matthews, NC. Salvatore’s #36 owned and operated by the Vince, Marc & Vincent Pettrone from Rochester, NY! The first of many Carolina locations will be in Matthews, North Carolina in the Ames Station area. “We are excited to bring Rochester Style Pizza to the Carolinas,” said Vince Pettrone, “I am looking forward to working with my two sons and opening up many locations in this market.” This location will also be a Pizza Pub with indoor and outdoor dining with pick up and delivery.
